I must admit, after Jake's first soccer practice, I thought that my kid totally was going to be awful at sports for his whole life. He didn't listen to the coach, he wouldn't run around on the field with the other little kids, he basically just sat at the corner of the field pulling up the grass, while I thought - "Great, wonderful waste of $XXX on soccer". Because obviously the way he is on his first day of soccer practice when he is 3-years old is indicative of how the rest of his life will go right?
To my great relief, after several more weeks, and removal of all distractions - grandparents, brother, and even Mama for a long time - our sweet Jake has done a 180 turn in his attitude toward soccer, and in his ability to listen to the coach and do all of the things asked of him. He now performs all of his soccer items like a champ, and even listens better than some of the older kids in his class. By no means is he perfect, but seriously - you can't tell me this isn't the cutest thing you've seen all day!
