First day of School - 2013

The first day of school for the boys seems to have been a huge success.  Blake and I woke up earlier than normal (mostly because he had to get on an airplane, so had to be up and out early), and I got the boys lunches packed and ready for them before they even got up - score one for the organized Mama!!  We got breakfasts eaten, and were out the door in time to arrive at school on time - probably the only time all year that this will happen, but it went well today!  (On time is 9am, lest you think I am really super awesome, it isn't that early by normal standards)  Even got a couple cute pictures of them on the way to school:

 

Drop off was easier than I ever imagined it could be (or than it ever will be again I expect - now that Travis knows I will be gone a while).  Jake and I walked Travis to his classroom where they had wooden puzzles set out on the table.  Travis sat right down and started to play, so Jake and I snuck his lunch and snacks into his cubby and got out of there!  In Jake's room, Jake got his things put into his cubby, and I reminded him how we did drop off last year (2 hugs, big kiss and then go play), and you know what, he did it without any whining at all - score two for Mama!!

After dropping them both at school, I got a TON of stuff done.  I swung by the vet and got an appointment for Molly (we'll see how it goes Thursday for whether it is worth mentioning specifics, let's just say she has a spot which needs checking).  After going by the vet I went to Gold's Gym and ran 2 1/2 miles, followed by a trip to the grocery store, where I actually got to look at what I was buying and read the ingredients in things because there weren't two small people trying to knock each other out of the cart!  I made it home showered and had a very quiet lunch before having to go back to pick the boys up at 1pm.

Made it to the school right on time again - score three for Mama!!  Jake was sitting quietly reading a book when I got there (so cute).  His teacher said that he was SUPER shy, and hardly said a word all day (all while he was clinging to my leg).  She said that he wouldn't go potty, and was mostly just very quiet and reserved all day.  But then when we left his classroom to go get Travis, he gave her a HUGE hug, so I think things will get better for him once he gets used to the new people (He misses all his old friends so much!). Also his undies were dry, so I am thinking he just didn't need to go - he isn't the type that you can talk into pottying if he doesn't feel the need!

Travis was being held by one of his teachers quietly saying "Mama" when I got there, I wasn't the first to pick up in his room, and he noticed!  But he wasn't upset, just was ready to be picked up.  Travis was described as "Super laid back" and happy.  His "report card" for the day said that he was mostly happy, ate all of his snack and most of his lunch, learned about body parts, and enjoyed vacuuming, and playing on the slide outside (yep, that all sounds like my little boy - except the eating, that is awesome that he ate so well).

So yeah, boys did great - Travis showed us that he knew his body parts - eyes, face, nose; and Jake showed Travis how to do the "Happy and you know it" song and dance, and said they did that at school today (no idea if this is true, but I'll go with it). They also decided to lay in the doggie beds at home, and of course once I started taking pictures, they became hams and wanted more taken:
